Live from Music Row Monday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio to explain how Democrats have been gaslighted by the mainstream media to believe that Trump and his supporters are divisive and violent when it is they themselves that are.
Leahy: Tomorrow’s a big day. Election Day. We are joined in the studio now by the original all panelist and my good friend for 30 years. Crom, I guess we’ve met each other when we are in our teenage years, right? Welcome, Crom. Good morning.
Carmichael: (Baby voice) Hello Michael. I’m just reflecting back on my childhood. (Laughter) I was so cute. (Laughter)
Leahy: Oh dear. We got to have fun, right? It’s such an un-stressful time of the year and our very existence of our constitutional republic is at stake tomorrow.
Carmichael: I think so, let me tell you a story about what happened since the last time I saw you. I have I’m not going to get into the specifics of my family situation but these are in-laws. I have lots of in-laws so I’m not picking anyone. But there but there’s one group that somehow or another and they’re very left and they’re also very successful. But they’re very left and they live in Washington D.C. and they have given away too much information here.
That’s all right. And so one of them and somehow I’ve gotten on their email feed that they email to each other about what’s going on and I don’t respond. I don’t do anything. I just look at it and scratch my head and I don’t really wonder anymore because it doesn’t do any good. But then all of a sudden I get an email I get and it gets emailed to me with everybody else on it asking how I could support such a divisive violence-prone blah blah blah blah blah.
Leahy: So they’re coming after you?
Carmichael: Now for the first time they actually addressed me. And I assume if somebody asks me a question, they actually want an answer.
Leahy: Okay, that’s a good assumption.
Carmichael: Yeah, so I responded. I said look I said with all due respect I said it is not Trump who is doing the violence. He’s not actually doing it, and I said you’ve probably heard the old expression sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Well, the ones who are hurling sticks and stones are your group.
And I said it’s not White supremacists who are doing the damage in Portland or in Seattle. And I went right down the list. And I said every one of the cities by the way is run by Democrats and every one of these states is governed by a Democrat. So you need to answer for yourself. Not me. Don’t ask me, ask yourself. Why has your party become the party of violence?
Leahy: This went over well with them I guess.
Carmichael: Then the other brother than one than the one I’m closest to. He sends the email hits the reply-all button and says Crom stop it. Just pray.
Leahy: What?
Carmichael: Okay, and so I emailed back and I said I said just delete me from your list. Yeah, if you’re going to ask me a question,
Leahy: I will give you an answer.
Carmichael: And then you try to cancel my answer, that’s not the way things are done in this country.
Leahy: The left generally wants it done that way.
Carmichael: This is what I’m saying is this these are people of the left. Now the one who told me to stop it, he’s probably going to vote for Trump. But this is kind of where we are in the country where the media has now conditioned people to believe that Trump, they’re trying to condition people to believe that Trump is the one who’s responsible for the violence.
Leahy: Well, they are trying very hard.
Carmichael: They are trying very hard, and by the way, let me just say that, and I’m not trying to be hyperbolic here. This is exactly what happened when Hitler became Chancellor in Germany. Because I just finished reading the books about it. And Hitler became Chancellor and he didn’t know he was going to be Chancellor until about five minutes before the decision was made.
Now that didn’t give him the power. What gave him the power was then he immediately called for an election and the tactics that his party used in the elections were very similar to the tactics today. There was violence there was there were threats there was graffiti. I don’t know if you saw where a Republican candidate for office, they attacked his house and spray painted it.
Leahy: Yeah, I saw that. Which one was it?
Carmichael: It said it was not elections. It will be revolutions, not elections. Right? And and and so what I’m saying is that is it what you have is the world is tilted upside down. It is people who believe Trump has done a good job. By the way, somebody sent me something from the guy from the head of The Claremont Institute. I’m going to send it to. It’s a 17-minute speech that this guy gave and it expresses my sentiments about Trump better than I could.
Leahy: That’s a high recommendation.
Carmichael: It’s on how clear it was because he says he says Trump is certainly an imperfect person, but he is perfect for this particular time. And then he goes on to explain the imperfections and the reasons that those imperfections are essential in combating the forces of evil. And that’s the way I look at it because we’re at a point now where in Washington D.C. and what provoked all this, and Washington D.C. Black Lives Matter is calling for demonstrations in Washington D.C. as soon as the polls of the elections close.
And so I get the email blaming me. And it’s not going to be White supremacists in the middle of Washington DC burning down their city. They’re boarding up the city. Now they are boarding up the city because it is the leftists who cannot stand the election process.
Leahy: The possibility that Trump could win re-election.
Carmichael: Yeah, and and and I think it’s going to come down to I’ve got a very interesting article here that we can talk about a little later. And it’s about the laws in the various states for example in Tennessee if you haven’t voted in person the first time well, no you must vote in person the first time. You cannot get an absentee ballot in Tennessee. Now the way the Democrats would like it to be and this is just true.
And if you’re Democrat out there and you disagree with me then call in and say that I’m wrong. But Democrats would like for a judge to change the law and say anybody can get it they like to change the law. And they actually say mail out ballots to everybody so there’s no voter suppression. So they hide behind the fraud by claiming voter suppression. And so in the states, you’ve got Wisconsin. You’ve got Michigan and you got Pennsylvania.
You’ve got North Carolina and maybe Minnesota. I have not looked at the laws in Minnesota. But in those states, it is required by the state legislature that the ballots be in by the time the polls closed for it to be a valid ballot. And officials who are not elected have been the ones who’ve tried to change that. And the lower courts have gone along. And in some cases, the Supreme Court in Pennsylvania was four-four. But I noticed in that ruling they invited a post-election challenge to the question.
So in Pennsylvania, they are segregating the ballots so that any ballots that come in after the election there are going to be Republican lawyers all over the state. And especially in Philadelphia that are saying segregate those ballots until the Supreme Court makes a decision. So it’s unfortunate that we are going to be forced in many cases to go through the process of having the courts rule on what the legislation clearly says. And then when Democrats don’t get their way, they’re going to be violent. And that is on them. That’s not on those not on peace-loving people.
Leahy: I’m not sure if I would use the word unfortunate. I would say it’s simply inevitable that that will happen.
Carmichael: That’s a better word.
Leahy: So here’s another word I want to talk to you about. Momentum. Let me just give you an anecdotal example of that.
Carmichael: A great anecdotal that everybody in our listening audience will understand is its momentum is when Derrick Henry hits you on the three-yard line in your chest.
Leahy: (Laughter) Boom. He’s going to score a touchdown. (Carmichael laughs) That’s a great example of momentum. Now, we’ve been playing electoral college roulette here. And for the past week with our listeners and they help determine what they guess the Battleground State turnout will be. I just want to tell you about the results of the past four days. We’re going to play it again tomorrow the last day. Wednesday it was 274 to 264 for Trump to Thursday and Friday 294 to 234 for Trump. Monday today 299 to 239. Are our listeners reflecting the momentum that we’re seeing out there?
Carmichael: Was that a question or a statement?
Leahy: That’s a question.
Carmichael: What was the question?
Leahy: Are our listeners accurately reflecting the momentum of the campaign.
Carmichael: I think so. But you know were going to find out.
Leahy: We’re going to find out tomorrow night.
Carmichael: I think we’re going to have to wait until the Supreme Court rules that the laws of the legislatures have passed unless they are changed by the legislatures who are dispositive.
